Trent Dilfer went out injured halfway through this game and Casey Weldon stepped in from the sideline to beat the expansion Panthers on a one-yard sneak as the fourth quarter began.  Reggie Roby had a fake punt completion to John Booty before Weldon completed his best day as a pro and three lost Carolina fumbles also helped the Buccaneer cause.
