Worked his way up the Bucs' depth chart at safety from a practice squad member to the starting free safety for the 1999 season. Held the position for two years until signing a big free agent contract with the Jets and former defensive coach Herman Edwards. Started for two seasons in New York and then moved on for two further years as a back-up in Seattle before leaving the NFL for good.
