Played eight games during the 2003 season strictly on special teams having been plucked off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad, where he signed after being waived on the final cut before the regular season. He originally signed with the Panthers as an undrafted rookie out of Boston College in May. At BC, he contributed 189 tackles and three interceptions in two seasons after transferring from Clemson, where he was a fullback. Rejoined the Panthers for the 2004 season and played in Super Bowl XXXVIII v New England.
