Hugh Green fumble return TD
Play-off game in Dallas
9 January 1983

The background

The 1982 season had been reduced to a nine game affair with the top eight teams in each conference making the "Super Bowl tournament", the first year to be shown on British TV.

The Bucs had won their final three regular season games thanks to the efforts of "The Cardiac Kids" winning each in dramatic style.

Their prize for their efforts was a second straight playoff trip to Texas Stadium to play the Cowboys where they had lost 38-0 in a divisional game 12 months earlier.

The game situation
The Bucs were being totally outgained and outplayed in the game and were trailing 6-0 just under five minutes into the second quarter. Dallas QB Danny White dropped back to pass and the ball slipped out of his hand. It was picked out of midair by a bltizing Hugh Green who returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.
