| Dave Moore First win in new colours Houlihan's Stadium 31 August 1997 The background Everything was changing in Tampa Bay. The new stadium was starting to take shape next door to the Old Sombrero, Tony Dungy was starting his second season as head coach, and the Bucs had new colours. The pewter and red uniforms had been unveiled during the off-season and for the first time in regular season play, Bucko Bruce was nowhere to be seen as the San Francisco 49ers came to town for the season opener in Tampa Bay. The game situation The Bucs had been hammering the Niners all game and had sent both Steve Young and Jerry Rice to the sidelines injured. But with just under 10 minutes left in the game, they still trailed 6-3. Then Trent Dilfer and his WD-40 backfield drove downfield and found themselves set up at the one-yard line. Rolling right, Dilfer found TE Dave Moore in the endzone for the go-ahead score and the start of a 5-0 run to open the season was under way. Click here for more details on this game |
