Testaverde to Carrier
4th Down heroics
Sun Devil Stadium, Arizona
26 November 1989

The background
Coming off a dramatic one-point win in Chicago a week earlier (already featured in this countdown), the Bucs found themselves in another nail-biter in Arizona against the then-Phoenix Cardinals.

Facing future Buc Super Bowl punter Tom Tupa at QB, the Bucs let chance after chance slip away in this one and found themselves trailing 13-7 late in the game starting one last desperate drive.

Vinny was suffering from the flu but still had his ace up his sleeve in Pro Bowl receiver Mark Carrier. He dropped back and threw a fade pass to the right corner of the endzone. The rest as they say is history.

The game situation
82 yards on 14 plays including a key third down conversion to Bruce Hill and a 4th down pass to William Howard. And now the Bucs were at the Cardinals' 5-yard line facing 4th down and one last play to make the game a success.

Whereas the top 20-30 plays do stand out and are able to be ranked subjectively (and have been by some of the Tampa media), the early plays are generally spread out across the years and can only be placed approximately in terms of their importance.
