| Kevin House's big drop Three Rivers Stadium 30 October 1983 The background The 1983 Buccaneers were not a good team. Perhaps not as deserving as a 2-14 mark as they ended up as injuries and a woeful kicking game cost them around four maybe even five games on top of that mark. But when you see one play pretty much lose you a game you should have won, well that is the mark of a poor team. The Bucs were 0-8 going into their Week 9 road game in Pittsburgh. They had moved James Wilder to tailback from fullback and they now had a running game that worked in spite of a beat-up line. The Steelers had no Terry Bradshaw and were not the force they had been during the 1970s. And early in this game, they had so many turnovers that the Bucs should have been 25-30 points up. The game situation The Bucs were still leading 12-10 inside four minutes and had 2nd & 8 from their own 29. Jack Thompson rolled and found Kevin House behind the Steeler secondary ready to score and record the first win of the season. And he dropped it. Click here for the reports and stats |
