Stecker's game opener
Raymond James Stadium
23 December 2001

The background
I don't have a problem with Aaron Stecker as a member of the Buccaneers. I just had a problem with the idiot Claymore fans who thought simply because he gained 1,000 yards in NFL Europe, that he was the second coming of Walter Payton.

But this was the day that he came so close to breaking the kick return voodoo that would ultimately go some six years later.

The Bucs came into this game against the New Orleans Saints simply having to win to have a chance of the post-season. They proceeded to rack up a franchise record 48 points in the process with touchdowns and fieldgoals on almost every drive.

The game situation
The Saints kicked off to open the game and Stecker fielded the ball at his goal-line. Look out for a tremendoud block in the back by Rabih Abdullah (27) near the end of the run that was somehow missed by all the officials.
