| Irvin ruins my vacation Tampa Stadium 21 October 1990 The background My second trip to Florida and I am in Tampa Stadium with Phil Carter hoping to see the Bucs go to 5-2 on the 1990 season by beating a still rebuilding Cowboy team. And the Bucs go and blow it and start a six-game losing streak that saw Ray Perkins lose his job and I flew home hating Michael Irvin and Dallas for ruining my vacation. All joking aside, this was the day that the hopes of the 1990 Bucs went out of the window and they never recovered. They had so many chances to put this game away and just could not do it. And I wound up meeting Phil Jones after this game as he heard me working for Buc radio that day. The game situation The Bucs were leading 13-10 having taken the lead inside the final two minutes on Steve Christie's 32-yard fieldgoal. Dallas had 143 yards of total offense but still went 80 yards in a minute to set themselves up at the Bucs 28-yard line with under half a minute to play. Click here for all the game details |
