The Truth makes it 5-0
Houlihans Stadium
28 September 1997

The background
The turnaround in Tampa Bay was under way. New uniforms, new attitudes and a new stadium being built across the road from the Old Sombrero. And here were the Bucs at 4-0 leading the NFC having come off a memorable Sunday night win over the Miami Dolphins the week before.

Everyone expected them to continue the streak against the Arizona Cardinals but the young Bucs were suffering a letdown. They had chances but kept letting them slip and a rookie cornerback named Ronde Barber was taken to the cleaners that day by veteran WR Rob Moore.

The game situation
The Bucs were trailing 18-12 inside the final five minutes but John Lynch's interception had given them another scoring chance. It was 4th and 6 from the Cardinal 31-yard line and Tony Dungy went for it. Trent Dilfer found Karl "The Truth" Williams over the middle, he beat All-Pro Aeneas Williams and took it to the house to take the Bucs to a 5-0 start for the second time in their history.
