Doug's run sets up payback
Tampa Stadium
11 September 1980

The background
The Monday Night Football crew were in Tampa for the first time even if it was actually a Thursday night game. It was a re-match of the NFC title game from eight months earlier that the Rams won 9-0 and the Bucs wanted their revenge.

But for most of the game, it looked like Los Angeles was going to do it again. In spite of four interceptions from Vince Ferragamo, the Rams held a 9-3 lead as once again, Frank Corral kicked three fieldgoals to put the visitors on the verge of another victory. But this time, the Bucs had a healthy Doug Williams and he made them pay.

The game situation
The Bucs were at the Ram 11-yard line inside the final two minutes. Williams rolled right, avoided a pair of blitzing Ram linebackers, and then made a tremendous effort to get the ball down to the one-yard line. The next play, he sneaked over for the tying touchdown and Garo Yepremian's PAT gave the Bucs their revenge victory.
