The Hooters Play
Tampa Stadium
8 November 1992

The background
Sam Wyche came to Tampa in 1992 and straight away set about changing the mindset of the fans and the Buccaneer organisation. And for the first year, everyone was taken along by it until we all started to see through the facade.

In pre-season, Wyche got two local restaurants to design plays for the offense and then actually ran one of them in the regular season. It involved the Buc QB coming in motion apparently in confusion with the bench over the play call. It was also run on the final play of The Longest Yard film with Adam Sandler pulling it off to give the cons the win over the guards (again).

The game situation
It was early in the third quarter and the Bucs were just inside the Vikings' half. DeBerg came in motion to the sideline and the ball was snapped directly back to Reggie Cobb who took off to the right side of the line. It was not quite as successful as the version run by The Mean Machine however.
