The first of the daggers
Qualcomm Stadium
26 January 2003

The background
As you can well imagine, there are going to be a few plays from the Super Bowl win over the Raiders in this countdown and this is the first of them. The one that really made Buc fans around the world believe that it was going to be their day in San Diego.

A case could be made for all six touchdowns that day to be part of the countdown but we have gone for three of them to be included and this is the first one to be featured, the one that came just before half-time and was the first mention from Gene Deckerhoff of "being the dagger".

The game situation
The Bucs have begun to take control of the game and lead 13-3 late in the first half and have driven down inside the Raider' 10-yard line. Brad Johnson audibles at the line and throws a quick bullet out pass to Keenan McCardell on the right side. He scores and Buc fans everywhere realised what was going to transpire that night.
