| A muddy touchdown pass Lambeau Field 2 December 1984 The background 1984 was James Wilder's year. The man single handedly carried the Bucs on his broad shoulders during the year setting franchise records and NFL records to boot. The most yards on the ground in a single Buc season, the most carries in an NFL game, and almost the record for most combined rushing and receiving yards in a season (more on that later in this countdown). And during this amazing season, Wilder also managed to complete a touchdown pass and hence theoretically ranks at the top of the franchise passer ratings with one pass for a 16 yard score. The game situation It is a mudbath of a field at Lambeau and both sides are struggling to move the ball during a scoreless second quarter. The Bucs have the ball at the Packer 16-yard line and Steve DeBerg pitches back to Wilder rolling right. FB Adger "Lead Dog" Armstrong was split out wide right and he catches Wilder's wobbly pass for the score. Click here for the game reports and stats |
