
| The A-Train arrives The Metrodome 14 September 1997 The background The Bucs had ended the 1996 season on a 5-2 run and had high hopes going into Tony Dungy's second season. They had new uniforms and a new stadium being built next door to the Old Sombrero. But would 1997 be yet another false dawn in the history of the franchise? The Bucs were 2-0 after wins over San Francisco and Detroit but this win in Minnesota, and this one play by Mike Alstott, announced the franchise's return to the national stage. This play was repeated over and over on national TV and the A-Train became a national hero. The Bucs of course never looked back, made the 1997 playoffs and the re-birth of the Buccaneers was well under way.. The game situation The Bucs were leading 7-3 in the second quarter and had the ball at the Vikings' one-yard line.
