A cracking Buc blooper
The Metrodome
12 September 1982

The background
After years of playing out in the cold, the Vikings got themselves an indoor dome stadium for the 1982 season and the Bucs were the first team to play there in the regular season.

And in a real NFL Films blooper special, defensive back Johnny Ray Smith managed to lose his shoe and nearly his sock during one Buc kickoff return in that first game.

This of course will not be the only Buc blooper to make this countdown and they are as big a part of the top 100 plays as any memorable touchdown or turning point in a decisive game.

The game situation
The Vikings were kicking off and Johnny Ray Smith was back to receive. His return only just made the 20-yard line but the way it happened is more important than the yards gained on the return.
