The first pick touchdown
Qualcomm Stadium
26 January 2003

The background
The greatest day for any Buccaneer fan anywhere in the world. Victory over the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII.

There are three clips from that game in this countdown, although of course we could have picked many. Keenan McCardell's first TD has already been featured - the other one, well you will have to wait until the Top 10 for that one!

But this score was the one that really sent Buc fans into delirium wherever they were. It was after this score that I turned to the Bucs' ticket manager, Mike Newquist, and let him know that his Super Bowl ring was secured!

The game situation
The Bucs had just taken a 27-3 lead after a long drive to open the second half. Now came the dagger. It was 2nd and 2 at the Raider 40 and Rich Gannon tried to throw a long out pattern to Jerry Rice on the left sideline. Dwight Smith was waiting and took it back 44 yards for the touchdown.

Whereas the top 20-30 plays do stand out and are able to be ranked subjectively (and have been by some of the Tampa media), the early plays are generally spread out across the years and can only be placed approximately in terms of their importance.
