| Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp - St.Louis Rams- 23 September 2002 The background The Bucs and Rams played a memorable NFC Championship game after the 1999 season that saw Tampa Bay fall just short of a trip to the Super Bowl. The 2000 season saw a cracking re-match on Monday Night Football that the Bucs won 38-35. This game played in September 2002, also on MNF, was somewhat billed as the decider. The game situation The Bucs were leading 19-14 with just over a minute left. The Rams were facing 3rd and 7 from their own 34 when Kurt Warner dropped back to pass. His pass was picked off by Derrick Brooks who had returned an interception for a score a week earlier in Baltimore. As Brooks headed towards the goal-line, escorted by Warren Sapp, Kurt Warner made a half-hearted attempt at a tackle. Sapp interrupted his celebration long enough to absolutely twat Warner one, and then he and Brooks continued into the endzone to seal a 26-14 victory for the Super Bowl-bound Buccaneers.
