Rolling through the playoffs
Houlihan's Stadium
28 December 1997

The background
Another Mike Alstott clip and this one comes from the final game played at the Old Sombrero. In fact, it was the final Buccaneer touchdown scored there so it was fitting that the A-Train got it.

The Bucs were back in the post-season for the first time in 15 years and the stadium was packed as Tony Dungy's team handled Barry Sanders and the Lions on their way to an eventual loss in Lambeau Field.

But this one score was memorable for both the game and historical situations.

The game situation
The Bucs led 13-0 and were driving late in the third quarter. Trent Dilfer handed off to Mike Alstott on a draw play and after bouncing off a couple of Lion defenders, he went in from 31 yards out to give the Bucs a 20-0 lead and their first play-off victory in 18 years.
