Ricky Proehl's touchdown
The Trans World Dome
23 January 2000

The background
OK so this one is not much a great play as a pivotal or decisive play in Buccaneer history. The touchdown that stopped the Bucs making a trip to the Super Bowl after the 1999 season.

The Bucs were the defensive force in the NFL ant got by with a little offense thanks to rookie Shaun King at quarterback and the WD-40 backfield of Mike Alstott and Warrick Dunn.

The Rams were the so-called "Greatest Show on Turf" led by NFL MVP Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. No-one stopped them all season.

And then the two met in the NFC title game in St.Louis, 20 seasons after the two franchises met in Tampa Stadium with the same prize at stake.

The game situation
The Bucs led 6-5 and the Rams had the ball at the Tampa 30. Warner threw it up for third-string WR Ricky Proehl down the left sideline and he caught the score over CB Brian Kelly.
