One huge defensive play
The Detroit Silverdome
20 December 1981

The background
We have already featured the Doug Williams to Kevin House long bomb from this game in the countdown, but this one defensive play was the one that took the Bucs to the 1981 NFC Central Division title in a winner-takes-all game in Detroit.

Lee Roy Selmon was a perennial All-Pro in the early 1980s and he was the one who forced the fumble from Lions' QB Eric Hipple.

The ball bounced kindly for the late great David Logan and he rumbled the 21 yards into the endzone to put the Bucs into a 20-10 lead that would prove insurmountable for the home team.

Selmon and Logan combined several times for fumbles and recoveries, but never did one have such an impact on the franchise as this one did.

The game situation
The Lions faced 3rd down and long deep in their own territory early in the 4th quarter. Selmon blew by left tackle Karl Baldischwiler and Logan did the rest for the decisive touchdown.
