Profile
Obtained from the 49ers for a 2nd round pick and started the first 12 games in Buc history. A former Heisman Trophy winner at Florida, he returned to his alma mater after coaching stints with Duke University and the Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL. Led the Gators to a National championship and in January 2002 and went on to coach the Washington Redskins for two seasons before returning to the SEC with South Carolina. Twice approached for the Tampa Bay job and both times turned down Hugh Culverhouse and then Malcolm Glazer to remain at Florida. Passed for just over 5,000 yards in his NFL career with San Francisco having joined the West Coast team as a 1967 draft pick.
