San Francisco 49ers
All-time record: 4-15 (3-15 in the regular season)

The Bucs and 49ers have met a number of times over the years, almost every year during the mid 1980s and early 1990s, but one win stands out head and shoulders above all others. It was the 1997 season opener and the first game in the new uniforms. Steve Young and Jerry Rice were both knocked out of the game and the Bucs began a five-game winnins streak that saw them wind up in the playoffs for the first time in 15 seasons. Their only other win in the entire series history, was their first win on the West Coast, a narrow 24-23 squeaker in 1980. Some of the other games in the series are best left forgotten as they mostly served to speed Rice's ascension to the Hall of Fame. But revenge was sweet when the teams met in the divisional playoff game in January, the Bucs coming out 31-6 victors in a game that was as one-sided as the score indicates.
