Played parts of two seasons as a back-up on the defensive line without ever really living up to his third-round selection status. Turned up in the USFL during its inaugural 1983 season with the Birmingham Stallions but didn't impress there either. Was selected with one of the selections obtained in the Earl Campbell deal for the first pick of the 1978 draft.
