Profile
One of the finest players in Buccaneer history. The fourth overall pick of the 1988 draft, Gruber started every game he appeared in for the Bucs and leads the all-time appearance charts in both categories. In his first five seasons, he did not even miss a single snap. Never rewarded for his efforts by a Pro Bowl berth due to the Bucs' lack of success in those early years, Gruber was always highly regarded by his team-mates and peers alike. When finally he looked set for a chance for real post-season glory, he broke his leg in Green Bay and was a spectator on the sideline when the Bucs lost to the Rams in the 1999 NFC Championship Game. He retired after the 1999 season and was recognised by the franchise for his efforts in a 2000 home game ceremony.
Was elected to the Bucs UK Hall of Fame in 2002.
Selected as the 9th Greatest player in Buccaneer history in 2007.
