The Glazer family bought the Buccaneer franchise from the estate of the late Hugh Culverhouse in 1995. Following a commitment to keep the team in Tampa Bay, approval for a new stadium followed along with new uniforms and a new logo, and it really did become a New Day in Tampa Bay. Since then, Buc fans have enjoyed more success than ever before in the history of the franchise. The Glazers have also been incredibly supportive of the Bucs UK since they took over the franchise too. In 1997, Bryan and Joel Glazer welcomed members of the club to One Buc Place to lunch with the players and were most interested in the club's history. They then generously swapped our existing tickets for far better ones for the game against Miami, and threw in sideline passes for the five of us too. In return, the following year, the Bucs UK were at the front of the presentation ceremony for the new stadium in September 1998, a gesture most appreciated by Bryan and Joel as they saw their dream of a new stadium come to fruition. The 2002 season saw the culmination of every Buc fan's dreams - Malcolm Glazer accepted the Vince Lombardi Trophy from NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were World Champions. The 10 years that the Glazer family have owned the franchise have been the most successful in history. In May 2005, the Glazer family also became the controlling owners of Manchester United. |
