Made the 1988 team as an undrafted rookie and spent the next three seasons as a mainstay of the special teams squads and also made nine starts at both safety positions when Harry Hamilton and Mark Robinson were hurt. Went on to play for Cleveland, Phoenix and Houston after leaving Tampa Bay, winding up with over 120 games played in the NFL. Was a cousin of one of the best receivers in franchise history, Gerald Carter.
