Derrick Ward misses practice with knee injury
RB Derrick Ward missed today's practice because of a knee injury he suffered against the Saints on Sunday. Ward could potentially have finished the game. But offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the injury, coupled with way Cadillac Williams was running in the second half prompted Ward to sit.
"He tweaked it a little bit on Sunday," coach Raheem Morris said of Ward's knee. "He didn't go back in the game, but he was on the sideline ready to go. At that point 'Lac had gotten hot, so we deferred to 'Lac. (Ward) should be ready to go. We'll just go day by day with him and see where we are."
Also today, LG Jeremy Zuttah (toe) and DT Roy Miller (hamstring) were slowed by injuries.
Spurlock named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week
Bucs KR Michael Spurlock has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Spurlock was signed last Tuesday to replace WR/KR Sammie Stroughter, who went on injured reserve.
He returned a punt 77-yards for a game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter of the Bucs' 20-17 overtime win over the Saints
Want you back
The Bucs have offered pro scouting coordinator Doug Williams a one-year contract extension. Williams, whose current contract expires in February, has interviewed for the head coaching job at Southern University because he was unsure of the Bucs' plans.
