Play the NFL's Fantasy Football
So you fancy your chances of running your own NFL team, well unless you win the lottery following about a twenty week roll over, you are likely to only manage this via computer games or fantasy football, computer games are OK, but most people tend to pit their wits/skills against the machine, so that leaves fantasy football, the Bucs UK fantasy league is full and has a waiting list, so unless it is expanded or another league runs along side the current one that avenue is closed so what's the answer?
The answer is to log onto the NFL.com website and register on their fantasy football link that they run, please read on for more details. This will allow you to not only play against fellow Bucs UK members but also NFL fans from all over the world (although it probably more likely that they will be from either the US or the UK)
For the last two seasons I have played Fantasy Football this way, here you have the opportunity to run your own team throughout the entire NFL season. You start off by registering with through the nfl website, just look for the fantasy short cut. Once registered you can join someone else's league or you can start your own, you can join a league that has an automatic draft or you can join one that has live draft (this means you spending a fair while online while everyone in your league makes their pick) it's up to you.
If you want to join a league with a group of mates then once the first person has registered he/she can start up a league of their own and then name it, letting all his/her mates know the name of the league, which they then join. Before the draft takes place you are given a chance to grade each position and each player in your order of preference, if you choose to go through the automatic draft, this is very important as your team is picked using your preferences as a guide.
How do you score points/win games? this is done based entirely on the actual players performances each week, for example a TD is worth 6 points, each ten yards gained is worth 1 point. When it comes to the 'D' they score points through sacks interceptions lack of yards allowed etc.
The make up of the teams/squads is as follows, each team to be legal each week must consist of 1 QB, 2 RB's, 2 WR's, 1 TE, 1 K & 1 D, these are chosen from your squad of 14, you can have as many players as you like in each position up to a maximum squad of 14 i.e. you six reserves could be all WR's if you so wished.
You can change players once the draft is completed through free agency or trades with other teams in your league. Changes can be made anytime from Tuesday morning until kick off of the first game of the week when ever that may be. you are able to follow your own teams progress whilst the actual NFL games are going on via the live scoring window on the website, which also allows you to see how others in your league are getting on. Within each league the twelve teams are split into three divisions of four teams, you play each team in your division twice and the teams from the other divisions once. Each league ends up with the best for teams playing in the Play Offs and the two winning teams from the Play Offs play each other in a league Superbowl.
Best of all, it's free and should you win not only your own league's superbowl but be the best of all the teams that enter, then you can win tickets to the superbowl itself.
