Ex-Buc Arrested, Tasered
Former Buccaneer Keith McCants had to be subdued with a Taser gun by Prichard police, who arrested him while he was with two alleged prostitutes flagging down drivers along U.S. 45, authorities said. McCants, 39, allegedly threw a pair of pliers, a screwdriver and a crack pipe at an officer Friday evening, nearly hitting him in the head.

The 1990 NFL first-round draft pick was charged with three misdemeanors: possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and loitering.

It was the latest trouble for the ex-linebacker, who left Alabama after making 119 tackles during his junior season and received a $7.4 million contract as the fourth overall draft pick by the Bucs. His NFL career was plagued by injuries.

McCant's legal troubles since leaving the NFL have included charges of cocaine possession, bad-check writing and theft. He is awaiting trial after being arrested in Mobile on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and loitering for a drug activity. Police said McCants was found in a dilapidated house with a crack pipe in February.

McCants also served several days in the Chickasaw City Jail in March for driving without insurance, opting for jail time instead of paying a fine. The state of Alabama has seized a house he bought for his family in Eight Mile because of unpaid property taxes.
