DUI Charge Dropped AgainstJune
Cato June had the DUI charge brought against him last fall dropped by the state's attorney on Monday, according to attorney Ron Hanes.
"The evidence to support the charge just wasn't there ... for the state to go forward," Hanes told The Tampa Tribune in an e-mail. "We were confident of Cato's innocence when we saw the evidence. Cato has great respect for the law and has understandably been very concerned about this situation with the team and the league. I know he will work even harder to put this behind him."
June's arrest on Nov. 19 came the morning after his 28{+t}{+h} birthday and after he was clocked driving 66 mph in a 45 mph zone on Dale Mabry Highway at 2:52 a.m. The arresting officer, Peter Bucher, said he detected the smell of alcohol as he approached June's car, but that June refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
The officer subsequently conducted a field sobriety test and said in his arrest report that June "exhibited clues of impairment."
June's DUI arrest came just hours after the Bucs posted a 31-7 victory over the Falcons in Atlanta.
