1 2002 - Ronde Barber takes it to the house
The Bucs were leading 20-10 but the Eagles were driving. They had 1st & Goal at the Tampa 10-yard line with 3:27 left. McNabb threw a slant for Antonio Freeman but Barber had suckered him on the play and took it back 92 yards for the winning touchdown.

2 2002 - Derrick Brooks seals the deal
The Bucs were leading 34-21 at the two minute warning and the Raiders had 3rd & 18 from their own 29-yard line. Rich Gannon went over the middle for Marcus Knight, but Derrick Brooks stepped in front and took it back 44 yards for the decisive touchdown.

3 2007 - The great curse is lifted
The Bucs were leading 7-3 when Morten Andersen kicked to Spurlock at the Buccaneer 10-yard line. Then history was made after 32 years of waiting.

4 1997 - The arrival of the A-Train on the national stage
The Bucs were leading 7-3 in the second quarter and had the ball at the Vikings' one-yard line. Mike Alstott went up the middle and was rebuffed so tried the left side and dragged two Minnesota linebackers into the endzone with him.

5 2000 - The Monday Night miracle play
The Bucs were trailing 35-31 with 1:48 left and they faced 2nd and 10 from their own 35-yard line. Warrick Dunn actually lost 14 yards on the play before lateralling to King and his run, plus a 15-yard personal foul penalty.

6 2006 - "Matt Bryant is my hero"
The Bucs trailed 21-20 with 33 seconds left. One complete pass and a Bruce Gradkowski scramble left them at the Philadelphia 44-yard line. Matt Bryant then promptly kicked the longest fieldgoal in Buccaneer franchise history to win it.

7 1977 - the first ever Buccaneer win
The Saints had 2nd & 14 from their own 42-yard line when Bobby Scott threw a pass to the left side that was picked off by Washington. 45 yards later and the Bucs were on their way to that elusive first victory in franchise history.

8 2002 - "You go Joe, you go Joe"
The Bucs trailied 7-3 and faced 3rd & 2 from their own 24-yard line. Brad Johnson hit third receiver Joe Jurevicius over the middle isolated against a linebacker. 71 yards later and the Bucs had 1st and goal and took a lead they would never relinquish.

9 1978 - The infamous fieldgoal blooper
The Bucs were attempting a fieldgoal when the snap went over both holder Dave Green and kicker Neil O'Donoghue. The latter then made an abortive attempt to kick the bouncing ball and missed it completely.

10 1976 - The first Buccaneer touchdown
The Colts were leading 42-3 and were running out the clock with just under two minutes left in the game. RB Ron Lee fumbled and Danny Reece picked up the ball to score the historic first Tampa Bay Buccaneer touchdown.

11 1994 - The first punt return touchdown
With all the furore surrounding Micheal Spurlock's kick return touchdown (which just might make our Top 10 plays!), Buc fans often forget that it took until the 19th season of the franchise's existence for the team to even have a punt return touchdown.

12 1981 - One huge defensive play
The Lions faced 3rd down and long deep in their own territory early in the 4th quarter. Selmon blew by left tackle Karl Baldischwiler and Logan did the rest for the decisive touchdown.

13 1988 - Always play to the whistle
The Bucs had 3rd & 1 at the Cardinal 47-yard line and Tate went over the top for the first down. But his knee never hit the ground so the play was still live and Tate continued all the way for a score.

14 1979- A touchdown pass from sitting on your arse
The Bucs were leading 24-7 as the fourth quarter opened with the home team at the Lion 2-yard line. Williams slipped going back from center but was still able to throw a TD pass to back-up TE Jim Obradovich for a memorable score.

15 1985 - The greatest hit by a Buccaneer ever
The Lions had 1st & 18 from their own 8-yard line on their opening drive of the game. Hipple rolled left but did not see Brantley coming behind fellow Buc linebacker Chris Washington.

16 1979 - A 19-yard fieldgoal for the division title
The Bucs had lost three straight games when a single win meant their first division title and a playoff berth. And during a monsoon in Tampa when neither team could move the ball, one drive and one kick made the difference.

17 1999 - "Do something!" screamed John Lynch at the Buc offense
The Bucs were trailing 10-0 as Brad Johnson dropped back and threw deep down the left sideline. Lynch swoopd in for the pick and the Buc offense finally began to come to life.

18 1983 - James Wilder's coming out party
The Bucs were trailing 9-7 in the Metrodome and faced 2nd and 5 from their own 25-yard line. Jack Thompson handed left to Wilder who followed the blocking of Armstrong and burst clear down the sideline for the longest rushing TD in Buc history at that time.

19 1987 - The NFL hit of the year
Jim McMahon threw a short pass to Anderson out of the backfield and he turned upfield, he found Randle waiting for him to knock the ball loose.

20 1984 - When the Bucs let the Jets score a touchdown
John McKay wanted the ball back for James Wilder's record attempt. The Jets had the ball at the Tampa 2-yard line inside the final minute and RB Johnny Hector took the hand-off and literally walked into the endzone untouched.

21 1983 - The most unlikely kicker
The Bucs had just scored on a Jack Thompson to Gerald Carter 13-yard TD pass and John McKay sent offensive tackle George Yarno out to attempt the PAT. He made it and the offensive line went wild in celebration.

22 1999 - Bert Emanuel's non-catch
Shaun King hit Emanuel on a crossing pattern to the Ram 22 but it was ruled incomplete after a video challenge. One Hail Mary pass later out of the endzone and the Rams were in the Super Bowl.

23 2005 - Jon Gruden and the gutsiest call of all
The Bucs had just scored on Edell Shepherd's 30-yard reception from Chris Simms but the Bucs still trailed 35-34. Jon Gruden went for the win with 58 seconds left and Mike Alstott went up the middle for the score that was confirmed by the replay official.

24 1998 - One hand is enough
The Bucs trailed 15-7 but were mounting a second half comeback. Trent Dilfer threw down the left side on a play-action pass and Dave Moore plucked it out of the air one-handed and took it in for the score.

25 1999 - Ricky Proehl breaks Buccaneer hearts
The Bucs led 6-5 and the Rams had the ball at the Tampa 30. Warner threw it up for third-string WR Ricky Proehl down the left sideline and he caught the score over CB Brian Kelly.

26 1997 - Mike Alstott rolling through the playoffs
The Bucs led 13-0 and were driving late in the third quarter. Trent Dilfer handed off to Mike Alstott on a draw play and after bouncing off a couple of Lion defenders, he went in from 31 yards out to give the Bucs a 20-0 lead and their first play-off victory in 18 years.

27 2001 - A memorable kick return
Gary Anderson's kickoff was a squib kick and was taken by one of the Bucs' blockers, reserve offensive lineman Todd Washington. Minnesota's Fearon Wright is still wondering today why Anderson tried that and what actualy hit him because he still doesn't remember!

28 2002 - Warren Sapp flattens Kurt Warner
As Brooks headed towards the goal-line, escorted by Warren Sapp, Kurt Warner made a half-hearted attempt at a tackle. Sapp interrupted his celebration long enough to absolutely twat Warner one.

29 1986 - Oh those crazy 1986 Bucs
Steve Young threw a pass that was picked off and after a couple of laterals as the Bear defenders tried to decide who was going to score their next touchdown, Vince Heflin nipped in to pick the ball out of the air and return it for a score.

30 2003 - An amazing Monday Night Football score
The Bucs were leading 10-0 in the fourth quarter and were looking to seal the deal. Brad Johnson threw to the right side for Jurevicius who deflected the pass up in the air and over an Eagle defender. He then adjusted and dived for the rebound.

31 2000 - A fake spike for a score
Shaun King lined up as if to spike the ball to stop the clock and all the other Buc players went along with the designed ruse. Patriots CB Kato Serwanga fell for it most and Reidel Anthony was able to catch the lofted King pass for a decisive score.

32 1997 - A new day in Tampa Bay
It was 3rd and 29 from the Tampa 42 with just over nine minutes left in the game and the Bucs led 24-14 so the game was not totally safe. Trent Dilfer threw a screen pass to Warrick Dunn who waited for his blockers and then raced the distance.

33 1982 - A Hall of Fame big play
The Bills were inside fieldgoal range with less than a minute and only trailing by one. Selmon forced Roosevelt Leaks to fumble, Cedric Brown (34) recovered and the Bucs won another one.

34 2002 - The first Super Bowl pick touchdown
It was 2nd and 2 at the Raider 40 and Rich Gannon tried to throw a long out pattern to Jerry Rice on the left sideline. Dwight Smith was waiting and took it back 44 yards for the touchdown.

35 1998 - Opening Raymond James Stadium in style
Just into the fourth quarter, Warrick Dunn took a handoff, broke a tackle at the line, and then won a footrace to the left corner of the endzone to put the Bucs ahead for good in the first game played at Raymond James Stadium.

36 2000 - A trick two-point conversion
The Bucs were 14-9 down having just scored on a King pass to Keyshawn Johnson. Everyone knew they needed a two-point conversion and a hand-off to Warrick Dunn, reverse to Mike Alstott and pitch to Shaun King later, they had it.

37 1982- A cracking Buc blooper of a kick return
The Vikings were kicking off and Johnny Ray Smith was back to receive. His return only just made the 20-yard line but the way it happened is more important than the yards gained on the return.

38 2001 - The longest Buc play ever
It was early second quarter in a scoreless game. Brett Favre went left to his TE Bubba Franks but was intercepted at the goal-line by Quarles who returned it 98 yards for a touchdown and the Bucs were on their way to a 14-10 victory.

39 1981 - One game for the title
John McKay decided to go for the quick strike and called a bomb to Kevin House down the right sideline. 84 yards later and the Bucs were on their way to their second division title in three years and the Detroit crowd was silenced on the spot.

40 2002 - The unstoppable A-Train
The Bucs are leading 17-3 in the fourth quarter and are just trying to run out the clock. Alstott takes a hand-off, heads right and pretty much shakes off an attemped tackle from each member of the Cleveland defense on his way to a 19-yard gain.

41 1984 - A muddy touchdown pass
The Bucs have the ball at the Packer 16-yard line and Steve DeBerg pitches back to Wilder rolling right. FB Adger "Lead Dog" Armstrong was split out wide right and he catches Wilder's wobbly pass for the score.

42 2002 - The first of the daggers
Brad Johnson audibles at the line and throws a quick bullet out pass to Keenan McCardell on the right side. He scores and Buc fans everywhere realised what was going to transpire that night.

Steve Young throws over the middle and after three deflections from Buffalo defenders, and one by WR Gerald Carter, James Wilder makes a diving grab for a 16-yard reception.

Louis Carter is stopped on a dive play up the middle from the one-yard line. But then he makes history with his two-handed pitch to the right side of the formation where Morris Owens catches it and steps into the endzone for an historic score.

47 1993 - A record-breaking kick
10 seconds left in the first half and the Bucs are 17-7 down with the ball at the Raider 40-yard line. Sam Wyche decides to give Husted a chance for glory and the rookie kicker makes it with some ease.

48 1992 - The Hooters Play
In the 1992 pre-season, Sam Wyche got two local restaurants to design plays for the offense and then actually ran one of them in the regular season. It involved the Buc QB coming in motion apparently in confusion with the bench over the play call.

49 1985 - Sacked into a snowdrift
This was just one play from many we could have used from this game but was one of Alphonso Carreker's four sacks on the day. Young admitted he could hardly breathe when he was flattened into a snowdrift on the field in Green Bay.

50 1982 - How the Bucs UK and BUCPOWER.COM all got started
Strock dropped back and threw deep downfield with 26 seconds to play. CB Mike Washington intercepted and sealed the victory. And back in the UK,a then 17-year-old watched the game, thought that team in orange must be pretty good, and hence became a Buc fan.

51 1990 - Diving into the endzone on national TV
The Bucs had 2nd and 10 from the Lion 11-yard line trailing 13-9. Gary Anderson originally looked to throw an option pass but changed his mind and set off on a memorable touchdown pass that deservedly makes our countdown.

52 1981 - Blocking Mick Luckhurst's game-winning fieldgoal
The Bucs led 24-23 with Mick lined up to attempt a potential game-winning 45-yard fieldgoal. Little used defensive lineman Scott Hutchinson got a hand to the kick and deflected it wide to give John McKay a crucial victory.

53 1996 - John Lynch's 40-yard run on a fake punt
During the fourth game of that season, the Bucs did manage to pull off a trick play and one that technically leaves John Lynch with the highest average per carry in franchise history.

54 1982- The Cardiac Kids
The Bucs had forced the Bears to punt in overtime of the playoff decider and Tampa had the ball 1st and 10 at their own 40-yard line. John McKay called "18 EAT Pitch" and James Wilder ran the Bucs into the playoffs again.

55 1988 - The first Buccaneer safety
The Bears were facing 4th and 3 from their own 16-yard line but the snap back to punter Bryan Wagner was way too high. Reserve RB Kerry Goode chased Wagner down in the endzone and tackled him to record the first-ever Buccaneer two pointer.

56 1996 - The start of something new
The Bucs were leading 14-7 in the second quarter when Karl Williams fielded a punt at his own 12-yard line. And hence followed his first and the Bucs' second-ever punt return touchdown to send a delirious crowd into total rapture.

57 2004 - Who needs a helmet anyway?
Brad Johnson hit Clayton behind the secondary and the latter made a diving catch to secure the ball. John Lynch came over but shied away from a big hit and hence never actually downed Clayton. He got up and ran into the endzone sans helmet.

58 1979 - All those blocked kicks
All the Bucs need is a Neil O'Donoghue PAT and the game is going into overtime. And it's blocked. John McKay's reaction on the sideline said it all and he didn't improve his opinions talking to the media afterwards.

It was the third play of the game and Jeff George tried a quick slant pass to the right but it was blocked by Abraham who was blitzing on the play. He caught his own rebound and took it to the house for quick six points to start the game.

60 1987 - A flea-flicker special leads to a touchdown
Steve DeBerg pitched the ball to RB Jeff Smith who in turn, handed off to WR Gerald Carter coming from the left sideline. Carter returned it to DeBerg, who then fired down the left side where Smith had beat his linebacker and caught the ball for a memorable touchdown.

61 1995 - Warren Sapp's first NFL touchdown
Jeff George tried to throw a little shuttle pass to RB Craig "Ironhead" Heyward but the pass was picked off by Warren Sapp who had the mere formality of stepping five yards into the endzone for a short interception return TD.

62 2001 - Aaron Stecker's big game opener
The Bucs were at the Ram 11-yard line inside the final two minutes. Williams rolled right, avoided a pair of blitzing Ram linebackers, and then made a tremendous effort to get the ball down to the one-yard line.

63 1997- The Truth makes it 5-0
It was 4th and 6 from the Cardinal 31-yard line and Tony Dungy went for it. Trent Dilfer found Karl "The Truth" Williams over the middle, he beat All-Pro Aeneas Williams and took it to the house to take the Bucs to a 5-0 start for the second time in their history.

64 1990 - Michael Irvin ruins my vacation
The Bucs were leading 13-10 having taken the lead inside the final two minutes on Steve Christie's 32-yard fieldgoal. Dallas had 143 yards of total offense but still went 80 yards in a minute to set themselves up at the Bucs 28-yard line with under half a minute to play.

65 1993 - The Hi-C double somersault
The Bucs led 17-3 late in the third quarter when Erickson twice connected with Copeland on long scoring plays. And Horace celebrated in his own unique way with backflip somersaults in the endzone.

66 2001 - Aaron Stecker's big game opener
The Saints kicked off to open the game and Stecker fielded the ball at his goal-line. Look out for a tremendous block in the back by Rabih Abdullah (27) near the end of the run that was somehow missed by all the officials.

Donald Igwebuike was lined up to attempt an extra point in the 1989 win over the Bears but the snap was high and holder Chris Mohr had to scramble in for the then single point. "They can do no wrong" was the comment from Dick Stockton of CBS.

68 1991 - Gary Anderson weaves his magic
The Bucs were trailing Chicago 7-3 in the first quarter at Tampa Stadium when Anderson took a pitch from Testaverde and headed right. The resulting touchdown is still as memorable now as it was then.

69 1989 - Joe Montana breaks Buccaneer hearts
The 49ers had driven from their own 30-yard line and had the ball at the Buc 4-yard line. Montana rolled right, faked to pass and then ran the ball in himself to secure a narrow victory. And every Buc fan was left to consider what might have been for their young team.

70 2004 - Michael Pittman's big day
The Bucs were trailing 24-20 early in the second half when Pittman took a pitch from Griese. Following some outstanding blocks (check out the one by FB Jameel Cook), Pittman went 78 yards for the score and the Bucs went on to win.

The Bucs faced 4th down from their own 9. Tom Tupa faced a heavy rush from former Buc Fred McAfee and in the process of being tackled, tried to throw a left-handed pass out of the endzone.

The Bucs led Washington 14-13 in the playoffs and Brett Conway was lined up to attempt the kick. But Dan Turk's snap was a bouncer and Brad Johnson could not handle it, leaving Floyd Young to record the game-winning sack.

73 1979 - Unbeaten, untied and unbelievable
The Bucs were looking to go 5-0 and sit atop of the NFL standings just two years on from their first ever victory. Jerry Eckwood swept right and avoided more Bear tacklers than he could count on his way to the endzone.

Trent Dilfer threw a pass in the right flat to Alstott who was the leading receiver that season for the Bucs. A typical bruising run later and Mike was in the endzone giving the Bucs a lead they would not relinquish.

It was the last play of the first half and the score was tied at 14-14. Trent Dilfer rolled right and threw in the general direction of the endzone. Brice Hunter caught it for his one and only NFL touchdown. The Bucs went on to win 31-17.

77 1980 - The first win on the West Coast
The Bucs were trailing 23-21 late in the game. In came kicker Garo Yepremian (he of the botched pass in the Miami Super Bowl win over the Redskins) and his 30-yard fieldgoal gave the Bucs their only win in San Francisco.

78 2005 - Cadillac has a debut to remember
Tom Ramsey then threw a pick which Calvin Peterson intercepted and began to return down the left sideline for good yardage. And then his dodgy knee gave way. Peterson fell out of bounds and never played another down of pro football.

86 1976 - So close to the first touchdown in franchise history
The day it all began for the Tampa Bay NFL franchise, on the road in the Astrodome. The Bucs were at the Houston 12-yard line as a holding penalty moved them back and then Spurrier rolled right and threw for McGriff in the endzone.

87 2005 - Diving for a play-off touchdown
The Bucs were trailing 17-3 with just over five minutes gone in the second half and faced 3rd and Goal at the Washington 2-yard line. Chris Simms rolled left and seeing no-one open in the endzone, went for glory himself with a spectacular diving touchdown.

88 1997 - The first win in the new pewter colours
Trent Dilfer drove the Bucs downfield and found themselves set up at the one-yard line. Rolling right, Dilfer found TE Dave Moore in the endzone for the go-ahead score and the start of a 5-0 run to open the season was under way.

Mike Rae pitched left to Louis Carter who just threw deep down the left sideline. Streaking underneath it was WR Morris Owens who should have scored had he not put his foot out of bounds at the two.

91 1987 - The biggest collapse ever
Trailing 31-28 after Neil Lomax had hit JT Smith with the go-ahead touchdown at the 1:01 mark, QB Steve DeBerg led the Bucs downfield on one last drive to salvage overtime. Out came the Bucs' Nigerian kicker, Donald Igwebuike to attempt a 53-yard fieldgoal as time expired

92 1995 - The double fumble in overtime
It never got any better for this for Sam Wyche. The Bucs went to 5-2 with this win and he was crowing to all the media in the locker room after the game. But it was thanks to one amazing play in overtime that they won this game.

The Bucs are opening the 1981 season at home to the Vikings and are leading by a point late in the game with Minnesota driving towards the apparent winning fieldgoal. Then up steps Neal Colzie to seal the game and start the play-off season with a bang.

96 1998 - Jacquez Green scores a long touchdown as Monday Night Football returns to Tampa for the first time in 15 years
The Buccaneers had not been on Monday Night Football since December 1983. Trailing 3-0 late in the first quarter, Trent Dilfer hit Jacquez Green on a slant pass that the rookie receiver took 64 yards for a score.

97 2006 - Michael Clayton scores a game-winning touchdown after the replay official rules in his favour
The Bucs were trailing 13-7 late in the game when they mounted one last drive. Gradkowski completed a pass to maligned WR Michael Clayton who dived into the endzone and fumbled as he hit the ground. The play was originally ruled incomplete.
