Obtained from the New York Jets for a 1st round pick in April 2013 and then signed to a multi-million dollar long-term contract. Started every game at left cornerback and was approaching full fitness by the end of the 2013 but defenses refused to regularly test his skills, his reputation as being the best pure cover corner in the NFL following him to Tampa. Was named to the 2013 Pro Bowl team along with Gerald McCoy.
Was released in March 2014 in a salary-cap related move and wound up signing with the New England Patriots. Had only played in two games in 2012 because of injury but had been a Pro Bowler the previous four seasons, a three-time consecutive All-Pro and the 2009 AFC Defensive Player of the Year.
