Worked his way up the Bucs' depth chart at safety from a practice squad member to the starting free safety for the 1999 season. Held the position for two years until signing a big free agent contract with the Jets and former defensive coach Herman Edwards. Was arrested before a game in 2001 when he drove into New York forgetting he had a loaded assault rifle in his car, less than a month after the September 11th attacks.
