The two sides have only met seven times due to inter-conference games being once every three years originally (now four) and even then, the Bucs often had a 5th place schedule and hence missed out on such games against the Browns as they did in 1986 and 1992. The last meeting against the original incarnation of the franchise, was Vinny Testaverde's first game against the Bucs since leaving Tampa and he led the Browns to a comfortable victory at the old Municipal Stadium. The Bucs' win in 2002 was their first over Cleveland, leaving only the Texans, whom they had never played at the time, as the only franchise they have never beaten.
