Profile
Missed the 2007 season with repercussions from his spleen injury in 2006 and was placed on IR in October of that year, Started the first three games in 2006 before sustaining that terrible injury. Became the Bucs' starting QB at mid-season in 2005 when Brian Griese was hurt and played better than anyone could have expected, four times leading the Bucs to game-tying or winning scores in the fourth quarter. Had seen his first NFL action in relief of Brad Johnson in Week 4 of 2004 and made his first start the following Sunday in New Orleans. Left that game through injury and did not start again until the season finale in Arizona when he took over from Brian Griese. Was inactive as the designated third quarterback for all 16 games in 2003. The son of former Giants' QB and Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms. Was released in the final cutdown in the 2008 pre-season.
