Lambeau Hoodoo Needs to be Buried
Old fashioned wisdom in Football puts forward the clear theory that running the ball successfully and playing defense wins you more games than it loses, indeed it won The Giants two Superbowls as I recall, and at present the Bucs are doing both efficiently and it’s coming up trumps for us.

I like to think the fact that I’ve tipped the opposition in both games has assisted things so far, but in reality our offensive line play and the jolt in the arm that is Cadillac Williams has mad a galvanising effect on the unit as a whole. We now have the legitimate home run threat in the backfield, and decent outlets at receiver with Michael Clayton and Joey Galloway.

A few things I think
1. I think I’ve never seen a Buccaneer running back explode between the guards and tackles with such force as The Cadillac. We seem to have tried to run this way for the past 10 years, and nearly got Warrick Dunn killed in the process, but Cadillac looks a different gravy altogether. Long may it continue.

2. I think this Sunday is Michael Clayton time in Green Bay. He will have 100 yards plus and get in the end zone at least once this week – it will be his turn to shine as the Packers defense gets caught up with Cadillac and loses him in the shuffle to their cost.

3. I think my FFL defeat to Paul’s Borg franchise by such a margin gives him current bragging rights, and me a lot to think about until we next meet in this format. Make no mistake notes have been taken and revenge will be sweet somewhere down the line. Paul will find to his cost that The Clap will be back!

4. Having read the Editors comments this month, I am stunned to learn that The Bucs actually had some “highlight” videos from 1985 until 1997. What was the 1986 video titled – “101 great punts?” And how about the amazing (now re-released on DVD) title, “Magic Sam Wyche makes 5 dash 2, become 6 dash 10.” Can’t wait to see these, along with Tyji Armstrong’s guide to self-control or Errict Rhett “Tips for sabotaging your own career, with a foreword from Drew Rosenhaus.” The comedy possibilities are endless.

5. Would all the fickle people in the states quickly getting off the Minnesota and Chargers bandwagons, please not jump on to ours, thank you. We don’t want you or need you. Yes that means you Dr Z and Don slimeball Banks of Sports Illustrated.

6. I think it’s time The Bucs defense was back in the end zone – the favourite to do it must be Ronde Barber. Sunday would be an excellent time to start don’t you think?

7. I think for once I agree with the Editor on how it’s best to spend your Sunday. I listen to the Bucs game on the radio, and watch barely an hour of Sky’s coverage so far this season. Not because there is any fault in Sky’s show, it’s just that the lack of Bucs content on Sky means it currently holds nowhere near the attraction of following your own team.

8. Good luck to The Dolphins this weekend – regular readers of this rubbish will need no reminder of who they are playing.
Factor in the two-headed Tight End monster of Becht and Smith, and you can begin to see why we’ve had success so far when we’ve had the ball. Granted we aren’t the Colts just yet and this is a work in progress but there is reason for optimism, the likes of which we haven’t seen for some time in Tampa.

On we go to Lambeau Field this week and a real chance to really bury the jinx there, and indeed kick the Packers whilst they are down. I am sick and tired of losing games at that place in every way imaginable and it’s time for us to kick some sand in their face on their own turf, and confirm our credentials to go on to better things this year. Time for the Bucs defense, with it’s many veterans, to win one in Wisconsin and have this on their CV. Messrs Brooks, Barber, Kelly, Quarles and McFarland have endured enough at the hands of Mr Favre and it’s high time we came home a winner from here.

If the Packers do have any major weaknesses it’s on defense, indeed they gave up two long passing scores last week, and it’s here where I think we will try to strike with Clayton and Galloway, with any passing success creating further voids for Cadillac to exploit when we have the ball. Let’s hope this is how it unfolds.

If we can get an early lead and make the Packers throw to try to catch up then we should be in business – let’s hope so anyway. As Joey Galloway is part of the under-performing receiving core on my fantasy league team I pray we throw a ton of balls his way on Sunday, for the benefit of The Bucs, and my own selfish interests!

I’m starting to sound quite positive here which is most unlike me, so it’s time to temper things a little. I’m not going to mess with any system that’s worked so far so will tip the Packers against us, 21-17, this weekend and hope I remain as wildly bad at tipping as I am at Fantasy Football. Come on Bucs, show me up for the naff prognosticator I am and win one for all those good squads who’ve perished before at the hands of Brett Favre or the feet of FUAT, who I will never forgive for costing us a division title back in 2000.

Nod of acknowledgement to – The Bucs defense again. Just like last week they came up trumps again limiting the Bills to 8 first downs, 3 points and scored a safety. Keep this up guys. The legacy of Hardy Nickerson lives on.

Get in the real world award to – myself, because I picked them, and my bloody FFL Team. Yes you Peyton (no TD’s) Manning, Reggie Wayne, Nate Burleson, Willis Mcgahee, Travis Henry, Joey Galloway, Alge Crumpler and Sebastian fat boy Janikowski. Get your asses in gear quickly your cretins, otherwise it’s the waiver wire.
