Oh My God It’s the Dreaded Super Bowl Week
So one game left then in this NFL season, and much to the dismay and horror of those ever so bitter and twisted 1972 Dolphin team members, The proven Videocheats are going for the immortality of an unbeaten season. Can the Giants pull off the ultimate upset of them all – probably not but it sure would be enjoyable if they could.
Given the game in Arizona will be played in favourable weather, on a fast track field and after a two week break, all things really do point to a comfortable Proven Videocheat victory. The teams have also already had a look at one another recently and though the Giants played them close on their own homefield, and Belicheat will no doubt have had all his camera equipment confiscated upon crossing the Arizona state line, I just can’t see a repeat this weekend; I hope I’m wrong but I just can’t see it.
The usual media hoopla and garbage is now in full swing with the mandatory “Player Guarantees Victory” storyline being played out, with this years particular star being Plaxico Burress; look for him to have a two catch day on Sunday given how these things usually pan out unless your name is Joe Namath.
Indeed Super Bowl media day should be a mandatory category entry into the “Only in America” debate, whereby a Mexican reporter proposes to about 10 players, a Giant player sticks on a pair of high heels, and the merits of the lovelife of the Proven Videocheats quarterback are often deemed to be far more subjectworthy than the actual x’s and o’s of the game itself.
A few Buccaneer things I think
1. I see BK is going to test his value in the free agent market, simply translated means he wants out. I’m not quite sure his beef has been these past few years, given all his injuries and the agreeable contract terms he was under, but thanks anyway BK, you’ve been a great one and after Ronde Barber and possibly Ricky Reynolds, the best Buc CB Ive seen in my lifetime.
2. I think Buc fans the world over are going to love The Editor's 100 best Buccaneer plays countdown. I've seen a sneak preview and it truly is a great piece of work. Enjoy people, it should spark a debate or two. I couldn’t possibly comment on specific plays I voted for – “You go Joe, You go Joe” – but the list is comprehensive and will provide some great memories.
3. Great piece by Denis this week making a case for The A Train’s inclusion into The hallowed shrine in Canton. Mr Alstott couldn’t have a more articulate backer than Denis and I too would love to see him there, but I just feel he falls slightly short and belongs in the Hall of Very Good rather than Fame. I used to love Philadelphia’s Keith Byars who changed the way an RB/FB can be used on offense and he like Larry Centers caught bucket loads of passes, and became focal points of their offenses. I’d say Alstott has the edge on them because he was a greater rushing threat and has the Super Bowl ring but I still feel he may fall short in the final reckoning; hope you’re right and Im wrong on this one Dennis.
4. I think despite Jeff Garcia heading off to Honolulu I still cant be tempted to watching that sterile flag football contest next week. It just isn’t football, but its good to see Jeff get the recognition all the same.
5. I think its time I put the keyboard to one side for a while until April when the free agent circus will be well underway, and the draft preparations are in full swing with Mel Kiper’s mock draft count well into 3 figures. By the time I write again lets hope we are celebrating the arrival of some fancy new weapons on offense, and Barrett Ruud is under contract for another five years.

Let's get down to basics here, the Patriots can and will put up over 24 points in this game, but can you see the Giants doing the same? Nope I can’t either and in a nutshell only an early injury to Tom Brady, or a total Proven Videocheat meltdown can stop the 19-0 freight train.
As greater feat as that is, and as annoying as those 72 Dolphins are and have been, locked in their own world of bitterness and arrogance, I just cannot grow to like or even admire The Proven Videocheats. The sanctions already placed against them in losing a first round draft pick clearly highlight the severity and scale of what they were up to, systematically approved campaign of cheating controlled by a Head Coach who has all the good grace of Attilla the Hun and the permanent facial expression of a bulldog chewing a wasp.
Yes I am in the camp who asterisk this Proven Videocheat season because I expect a whole lot more grace, class and humility from both the coach and organisation as a whole of an NFL Champion team; Tom Brady I can admire, Randy Moss is an undoubtedly talented player and Junior Seau will deserve his Super Bowl ring but that is about as far as I can bend on the issue of warming to what for me will be an NFL champion who history will judge and recall on their off-field exploits as much as their on field achievements.
Time for a prediction then, The Proven Videocheats 34 Giants 17. I long for an upset but the realist in me will not allow me to believe in it. Enjoy the game and the off season.

…... Thanks for bringing back an amazing prize of a signed Micheal Spurlock T-Shirt which I was fortunate enough to win this past week. Said shirt is already in the process of being framed as a permanent momento to that historic play in Buc history.
Get in the Real World Award - Lawrence Tynes' Scottish roots
Yawn. And if I read one more time how big a Celtic fan he is Ill puke, 51 times in fact for every (world record) title Rangers have won which Lawrence will be aware of “if he knows his history”
Sports News Story I No Longer Give a Toss About – David Beckham
……... I see Mr Capello doesn’t recognise party-going, photo-ops and 3 months of complete inactivity as being pre-requisites for an international call-up. Good on him for having the balls to stand up to the Beckham publicity machine, again.
Head on the Block Time
OK, last pick of the year and my final lock of the week – cue drum roll – Proven Videocheats to win easily and cover the spread
