Was the Bucs middle linebacker and signal-caller for four seasons and led the team in tackles each of those seasons. Was not offered a contract after the 2010 season free agency period began and moved to continue his career with the Tennessee Titans. Ranked 7th all-time in franchise listing for defensive stops. In 2009, became just the third player in franchise history after Broderick Thomas and Hardy Nickerson to record over 200 tackles based on team stats. Won the NFL's Defensive Player of the Month award for September. Originally a 2nd round pick who spent his first two NFL seasons backing up Shelton Quarles and playing special teams. His father Tom played at Nebraska from 1972-74 and played in the NFL for several seasons and his cousin John Howell was the Bucs fourth-round pick in 2001.
