Rookie of the Year - TANARD JACKSON
The one award that you know no-one can ever win more than once. We have had some really one-sided awards in the past (such as Cadillac in 2005 with nearly 98% of the votes) but this year's contest was a little closer.
But still taking nearly half of the votes cast, was 4th round pick Tanard Jackson. Having played cornerback most of his college career, the Bucs scouted him at the Senior Bowl playing safety, plugged him in at free safety in training camp, and then sat back to watch him start every game and become a unanimous All-Rookie selection around the NFL.
Gaines Adams came on strongly in the second half of the season and took 2nd place in our poll with over 24% of the votes cast. By December, the 4th overall pick in the draft was proving a real pass-rush threat.
Arron Sears was the Bucs' second round pick and also started every game as a rookie, but only made third place in our poll. Single votes were also received for four players who were not rookies, Michael Bennett, Earnest Graham, Micheal Spurlock and Greg White.
