Spent four seasons with the Bucs albeit the final one hampered by injury, a pretty good return for a 10th round draft pick. Returned to the NFL with the Chargers in 1986 after San Diego obtained his rights in a trade that netted the Bucs a 6th round pick in the 1987 draft. Played the 1984 and 1985 USFL seasons with the Houston Gamblers alongside Jim Kelly and recorded three interceptions and 2.5 sacks in the process. He gained his starting spot when David Lewis was benched for disciplinary reasons and kept it leading to Lewis' trade. Was a key special teamer during his rookie season.
