This was payback for the final game of 1984 when John McKay let the Jets score to try and get James Wilder an NFL record.

The Jets ran the score up big-time on the Bucs, even after Tampa Bay had taken an early 14-0 lead. The Bucs were outgained 581-212 in total yardage and lost five fumbles to the fired up Jets.

This remains the most points the Bucs have ever conceeded in a game and one of the highest totals in NFL history.
