GAME REPORTS AND COMMENTS

This game was affected by a heavy rainstorm that hit Tampa just before kickoff and led to four lost Buccaneer fumbles and the two teams managing to kick just one of four extra points between them. John Riggins led the SuperBowl-bound Redskin rushing attack, as six Tampa Bay sacks of Joe Theismann stopped any Washington aerial attack. Former Buc Curtis Jordan scored after he blocked a Larry Swider punt in the second quarter.

The Redskins did not suffer any interceptions and recovered their only fumble of the game to win the turnover battle that ultimately decided the game. The Bucs' six sacks tied a franchise record and Doug Williams' bomb to Kevin House was the Bucs' longest scoring pass of the season.
