The Bucs managed to reach .500 for the first time in their history thanks to Doug Williams' TD strike to TE Jim Obradovich with 8:01 remaining in the game. Dewey Selmon had the game's biggest play when he blocked a Fred Steinfort fieldgoal attempt and Mike Washington returned it 79 yards for the go-ahead score.
After the Bucs went 14-9 up and forced Atlanta to punt, they ran out the last five minutes of the clock including an option pass from Louis Carter in the process.
