Barber Finally Gets 'That Sack'

Earlier in the week, defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin asked Ronde Barber if he would get "that sack" on Sunday. "That sack" would associate Barber with an elite group and set him apart from every cornerback who ever played.

With his fourth-quarter sack, Barber became the first cornerback in NFL history to record at least 20 career sacks and 20 career interceptions. He became the seventh player to join the 20-20 club, which has two safeties and four linebackers as members. "He's a legend now," Coach Jon Gruden said.

Barber has had the interceptions for a while, with 28, which includes one in Sunday's game. The two-time Pro Bowler has needed the one sack since the Oct. 2 game against Detroit. "It's been a long time coming," Barber said of the record. "For a couple of years it's been in the back of my head."

He finally got it on a third-and-10 play from the Bucs' 27-yard line with 4:25 to play. Barber sacked Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme for a 13-yard loss. "I thought I was going to get it against Chicago," Barber said. "We had a game plan. We were checking balls to where I was coming like 100 times in a game, and we didn't get it. ... This game plan didn't really have me blitzing a lot, but we got the opportunity [late in the game]. It's a great feeling."
